Embedded Networks & Microgrids are the future of community energy management. Ellis Air Connect, as part of Ellis Air, has a long a rich history in the development, deployment and management of these networks. We pride ourselves on keeping up to date with emerging technologies, and the integration required to make them perform.

For example, in addition to installing and maintaining central systems that consume energy, we also provide systems that generate energy, such as solar, diesel or gas generators, and battery or thermal storage systems, plus ancillary services such as electric vehicle charging. All of which service the embedded network to reduce overall energy required from the national supply, or provide protection from peak time demands which will attract higher costs.

We understand that there can be financial or investment barriers to adoption, which is why we are here to help with true Energy-as-a-Service modelling, to provide improved community solutions over the lifecycle of the development, increasing value, environmental status, and ongoing benefits to the occupants.

Embedded Networks & Microgrids

An embedded network is basically an extension of the national energy distribution network, that is installed within private land to serve a multi-user community. The electricity and gas coming in off the national network is then divided up and either sent to the central energy plant, or directly to private residencies, retail units or businesses all forming part of the community..

The central energy plant uses these independently metered supplies of electricity and gas to directly power central energy plant and equipment, providing air-conditioning, district heating, domestic hot water, and ventilation. As the operators of this plant, we are typically the biggest single user of energy within the development, and subsequently make the largest purchases of energy from the national supply.

When in combination with internal or renewables generation, and intelligent demand response strategies, we can have a large impact on the overall energy consumption and environmental impact of the community.
